We are Saved by Christ Alone

It is frequently claimed that the Catholic Church teaches that our own works save us. This claim is false. In the introductory section of the Catechism, we see this:

The second part of the Catechism explains how God’s salvation, accomplished once for all through Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit, is made present in the sacred actions of the Church’s liturgy (Section One), especially in the seven sacraments (Section Two). [CCC §15, emphasis added]

Christ alone saves us.
