This is America. Once upon a time there was a Constitution that expressly forbids this sort of thing, but the “conservatives” on the Supreme Court decided that if literally anyone in a house lets police in, they don’t need a warrant. Ahem. Notwithstanding the property owner’s rights (which obviously override the word of, let’s say, a babysitter or some squatter), and of course notwithstanding that pesky Fourth Amendment.
Once upon a time Americans pitied the Soviet people and anyone else living under a dictatorship, because their homes were subject to search at the whim of the jackboots. We have more and more in common with them.
